Wisdom is Enough

All suffering can be summed up as such:

One has too much. One has too little.

Simple example:

  • If you eat too much, you will become fat.
  • If you eat too little, you will become weak.

Suffering is the circle of extremes: Too much is abuse. Too little is starvation.

Recently I heard a quote,

“The generation of the past suffered from scarcity while the generation of today suffers from abundance.”

I argue…

All generations, past, present, and future, suffer from the same suffering: The ignorance of Enough.

One person is starving to death. Another is eating themselves to an early grave. (This can be applied to food, money, fame, relationships, etc.)

The wise understand the idea of Enough. In all stories of individuals finding enlightenment and wisdom, they all begin and end the same.

It begins with transformation.

The individual endures suffering after suffering. Until they reach a point and yell to themselves,

Enough! No longer am I willing to live this way.”

After this awakening, their adventure begins.

As their lives started with Enough, it closes with Enough.

The wise always approach Death with this attitude,

“This life I lived, I want no more. I want no less. It was enough.”

To free yourself from suffering, understand what is Enough.

In every area of life, be observant on when to stop or when to do more. Be wary of extremes.

  • Too much exercise will break the body. Too little exercise will weaken it.
  • Too much money is greed. Too little is poverty.
  • Too many relationships bring suffocation. Too little relationships bring isolation.
  • Too much water will make you drown. Too little water will make you thirst.

Understanding “Enough” is the path to living well.

  • Enough is Wisdom.
  • Enough is Truth.
  • Enough is Here.
  • Enough is Freedom.
  • Enough is Perfect.

If you understand “Enough,” you understand Everything.
